HITWICKET (METASPORTS INTERACTIVE)

Role: Senior Game Designer

Tenure: November 2025 - Present
Genre: Sports Strategy, Realtime Multiplayer, Competitive, Co-op
Tools: Google Suite, Miro, Figma

Worked as a Senior Game Designer on Hitwicket, a leading cricket strategy game with a highly engaged global player base. Owned core systems, live ops, and long-term product direction, balancing sports authenticity with accessible mobile design.

Live Ops & Events

  • Designed a timed live matches experience on the co-op system as a live ops event: increased co-op matches by 110% per day and improved event retention from 10% to 58%

  • Planned and executed live ops events and seasonal campaigns tied to cricket beats, focusing on retention, DAU, session time, and monetisation

  • Designed a Christmas Piggy Bank event for new users, achieved a 20% uplift on RPI Day 7

  • Proposed and designed a Christmas Gifting event for elder/clan users targeting webstore purchases, routed transactions through the webstore to bypass app store commission fees, directly improving net revenue while driving clan engagement

  • Owned and maintained the live ops event calendar, coordinating event scheduling and pacing across the product

  • Collaborated with the Growth team on store featuring strategy and App Store/Play Store placements

Systems & Economy

  • Designed cohort-based difficulty calibration to maintain economy integrity, tracking reward claims across player segments to prevent economy leaks

  • Built and optimised in-game economies, including reward structures, sinks/sources, and offer design aligned with player behaviour and revenue goals

  • Designed a paywalled match replay experience of iconic historic matches to drive product revenue

  • Designed K-factor improvement feature to increase organic installs and reduce CAC

Retention & FTUE

  • Designed FTUE experiments, including tutorial decluttering and choice-based feedback systems, moved D1 retention by an absolute 2%

  • Designed D7 retention experiments and new user live ops events

  • Worked extensively on D0–D7 experience improvements across multiple experiment cycles

  • Conducted user interviews to understand player experience, surface pain points, and translate findings into actionable design improvements across gameplay and live ops

Product & Strategy

  • Developed player-centric feature pitches and documentation, helping refine the game's strategic direction and long-term roadmap

  • Conducted deep competitive benchmarking of sports/strategy titles to identify opportunities for new features, meta expansions, and UX improvements

  • Worked cross-functionally with Dev, Product, UX, Art, Production, and QA teams throughout the full design-to-ship pipeline

The Design Challenge

The core design challenge at Hitwicket was serving two very different player cohorts: new users who needed onboarding and elder users at risk of churn, within the same live ops calendar. This pushed me to think in segmented design: every event had to have a purpose for a specific player type, not just broad engagement.
